We're inundated daily with new technology options, new ways to take photos and new ways to record and post film. But is there really a major difference between video-sharing services? We did a comparison between Instagram and Vine to see what the benefits are of each, so you can make your own decision on which one is right for your online marketing purposes.Vine or Instagram

Both Instagram and Vine allow you to upload and share video content on social media. But how else are they similar or different?

Vine Variety

Vine started its life as a mobile app, which was bought over within four months by Twitter and launched in January 2013. The whole point was to create short video clips of six seconds or less and share them in tweets, which made it ideal for purposes such as covering breaking news. Whether the news was mainstream or company-related, it was a way to get a visual of your news onto Twitter, which is widely acknowledged as being the fastest news media in the world.

Outside of video giant YouTube, Vine had the social video market all to itself. It had a few constraints such as only being able to share at the time of the initial upload of a video. Facebook wasn’t too happy and blocked access to its members' friend lists.

Instagram’s Intention

Within a short time, Instagram launched its capability to manipulate photos and videos and make them different and interesting. With clips of 15 seconds, there's much more you can showcase using it. Video content is important, so the question becomes what's best for your business? If you have a low-priced, user-friendly product or service to sell, you probably don't need anything more than six seconds. If you're a lawyer selling legal consultation service, you might just find the 15-second option suits you better.

The Crucial Differences

So, if they're largely the same, what are the differences? Well, there's the length, which makes each one a specific option for certain types of business. Next, there's the fact that Instagram has editing options Vine doesn't offer, such as the application of special treatments and filters to the images you record for the purpose of making them interesting and different. In addition, Vine loops--some videos are just so much better when you play them repeatedly. Vine videos automatically loop indefinitely, while Instagram videos only play once.

So before making a choice between Vine and Instagram, you might want to try them both out individually. There might not be much difference between the two services, but there's likely a big difference in how one or the other works to generate leads for you.
